I had a long post that I wanted to write about the monastery and the fallacy that "all viewpoints are valid", but it was all summarized by something K told me this morning as we lay in bed: you can't even a balance by putting your weight on the fulcrum.

That's exactly what they're doing and I have no idea how to convince them of that or if it's really worth trying.

It just makes me sad and a bit disappointed.
We were discussing rewatching Escaflowne since it had been almost a decade since I'd seen it, and we speculated that I'd like it better now. We discussed a few of the characters and that's where this conversation occurred
Me: "Y'know who I liked? Dilandu."
K: "Oh, yeah...but you still like Dilandu? You don't feel weird about it now?"
Me: "Umm...she's a girl who was artificially forced to be a boy and went completely insane."
*both start laughing*
Me: "So, yeah, I have no problem with this portrayal."

This is the intersection of dorky anime nerds with queer and trans issues. Well, along with our fangirl freakouts over Kaoru...and Sailors Uranus and Neptune...and the Nanas hooking up...and...
